It seems as though the last three years have raced by! Freshman, enjoy it while you still can because your college years will flash by before you know it. I mean do I really look like a senior in college?! Wait, don’t answer that! To be honest, the thought of being in college did not really start sink for me until… well now. Ha! But, let me tell you it has been some of the best years of my life. For those of you who do not know me (yet), I am Sarah Salvatori and I am a senior here at Saint Martin’s University. It’s very nice to meet you as well! 🙂
Okay, but in all seriousness, college is pretty cool. You will meet all kinds of different people who will give you some of the most incredible opportunities, friendships and memories of a lifetime! Now, college will have its high, highs but it will also include some pretty low, lows. But, honestly, that’s life and without all those different experiences I know that personally I wouldn’t be half the person I am today.
I like to think of myself and a fairly involved student with the University. I like to dip my feet anywhere I can. College is all about making connections and establishing networks. So that is what I try to do.
I am a co-captain of the SMU Women’s Golf Team. I have been a varsity member since 2012 (my freshman year) and have loved every moment! We are very fortunate to have a split season, and the opportunity to play beautiful golf courses in and outside of Washington throughout the entire year! As a member of the Women’s Golf Team, I also have the opportunity to represent the team with fellow co-captain, Grace Dyer, on SMU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). I was also given the awesome opportunity to serve as a student-marketing intern for the Athletic Department, where for the past three years I have worked along-side SMU’s athletic director and sports information director, to help promote the University’s athletic programs.
As of this year, I have recently joined the internationally recognized service club, Circle K. Circle K is made up of students who want to see and make a difference in their communities. For those of you who have been involved in K-Kids or Key Club, Circle K is the college continuation group for you! Now I am still new to the group but thus far I have been given a taste of the extraordinary fellowship and service opportunities that this group has to offer. I had the opportunity to attend this year’s international convention in Indianapolis, Indiana where SMU’s Circle K took home four internationally recognized awards!!!
This year is also my first, and final year as an official member of Social Squad, and I am so excited to see what this year has to offer! It will be bitter sweet as my four years of college come to an end but I am excited to see what the future holds and where it will take me. Join me as I venture through my final year at Saint Martin’s University.
